Aaaah…another day, another fan petition. What is it this time? Someone wants Zack Snyder publicly executed? A woman to play James Bond? Netflix to reboot Nash Bridges? Nope, this time it’s the fans of the hit comic book movie, Deadpool, campaigning for none other than Quentin Tarantino to jump on board to direct the sequel. The departure of the original’s template-setting helmer, Tim Miller, has left fans in a lather, and enterprising Deadpool enthusiast, Carl Champion Jr., has actually taken action at change.org. “If there was ever a chance to see Tarantino do a project almost guaranteed to make a billion dollars, this is it,” writes The Champ. “We got a great taste of what this could be like in Kill Bill, but imagine having a guy like Tarantino write dialogue for The Merc With The Mouth! It would be so glorious. Quentin Tarantino is the master of writing dialogue, and Ryan Reynolds is a master of delivering dialogue. Tarantino makes ultra-violent movies where you love the characters, with horrible language, sexy women, and a villain you will never forget. Tell me Marvel doesn’t need another one of those.”
It’s brave work from The Champ, but we doubt very much that a (very, very, very talented) creative egomaniac like Quentin Tarantino would jump aboard a comic book sequel, even if the petition achieves its goal of 5,000 signatures. Sure, QT might jump into the world of comic book movies at some stage before his much touted retirement, but it would more likely be something that he’s built from the ground up himself, rather than an already established property. A petition for him to direct a movie version of Moon Knight or Silver Sable would likely have greater success. We’ll get it started right now…
