Forge Films Company has unveiled the official trailer for BREATHE IN HEL, a cinematic short from Macedonian/Australian writer-director Nik Kacevski, serving as a prequel and proof of concept for the forthcoming six-part series LOST IN HEL.
Starring Troy Honeysett, Jessica Ferguson, Masa Yamaguchi and Grace Durrant, BREATHE IN HEL follows two shipwrecked Vikings who find themselves stranded on an otherworldly shore, where the familiar mythology of the Norse underworld begins to transform into something far stranger.
Shot across Australia and New Zealand, the film establishes the visual and tonal language of the larger series, combining the tactile brutality of the Viking world with unexpected science-fiction influences.
“I wanted to take the iconography of Viking mythology and push it somewhere we hadn’t seen before,” says Kacevski. “There are science-fiction ingredients buried within the world, but at its core this is about grief. My idea of hell isn’t simply monsters or violence, it’s being forced to confront the moment you failed to protect someone you love, and having no way to escape it.”
That approach reflects Forge Films Company’s wider creative philosophy: to identify what is distinctive in a filmmaker’s voice and push it further, embracing creative risk rather than smoothing away the ideas that make a project unique.
“Forge encouraged me to take risks with this,” Kacevski adds. “They weren’t interested in making the safest version of the idea. They kept pushing me toward what made the world stranger, more personal and more uniquely ours. That freedom is a big part of what BREATHE IN HEL became.”
BREATHE IN HEL is designed not to explain the mythology of LOST IN HEL, but to open the door to it, introducing its world, creatures and central mystery ahead of the larger series.
