Coming Soon is reporting that Child’s Play, Don Mancini’s 1988 horror film focusing on a Cabbage Patch Kid-like “Good Guy” doll named Chucky that is possessed by the spirit of dead serial killer Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif), is getting a remake courtesy of MGM. Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) will direct from a script written by Tyler Burton (Kung Fury 2) for MGM. David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith (IT) are producing.
This follows on from the Child’s Play TV series that Mancini announced on Twitter last month:

The series is purportedly going to be part of the original franchise’s continuity, though, with the remake presumably being a fresh start.
While he may not have the cache of Freddie Kruger, Jason Voorhees, or Michael Myers, Chucky has been a dependable horror workhorse for three decades now. The original film spawned a total of six sequels so far with the latest, 2017’s Cult of Chucky, screening at last year’s Sydney Underground Film Festival.
No story details or casting news has been announced, but let’s all cross our fingers that Brad Dourif’s agent gets a call ASAP.
