Not all horror films are created equal. Last week, Rialto were already issuing press releases saying that Obsession has reached the magic $25m mark, which it will, just this week; meanwhile, Natalie Erika James’ well-reviewed, Sundance-chosen The Substance-compared body horror Saccharine opened so softly as to make us shudder at the fact that it’ll be on a streaming platform very, very soon. And, of course, the Moana live action facsimile went straight to the top of the charts, giving this weekend’s box office a nice 20% uptick, making most cinemas very, very happy.
