Vince Gilligan, the much-lauded creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, will headline Series Mania Melbourne in July. Gilligan will appear In Conversation to talk about his work, including the upcoming forth season of the early adventures of Slippin’ Jimmy, and will conduct a special industry masterclass.

Series Mania is the world’s premiere TV festival, and this marks the first time it has been held in Australia. Over four days the festival will showcase some of the best new drama and comedy from around the world, including over 20 free screenings.

Some of the highlights of this year’s festival include the debut of Sunshine, starring Anthony LaPaglia and Melanie Lynskey, a crime drama set in Melbourne’s Sudanese community; plus Australian premieres of The White Princess, Loaded and Mary Kills People; and world premieres of The Bonus Family, Tabula Rasa and more.

Online content highlights include web series Edge of the Bush, a Scandi-noir-inflected comedy, and Kate McLennan and Kate McCartney’s (The Katering Show) Get Krack!n.

ACMI CEO Katrina Sedgwick said, “We are delighted to be partnering with Film Victoria to bring Series Mania to Australia for the first time. No one epitomises the renaissance of TV drama quite like master storyteller Vince Gilligan – we’re thrilled to welcome him to Melbourne.”

Presented by ACMI and Film Victoria, Series Mania is on at ACMI from July 20 – 24, 2017. Shoot over to the ACMI site for full details.
