John C. Reilly’s amiable video game villain will return to our screens in a couple of years, and he’s bringing the gang with him, including co-star Sarah Silverman and director Rich Moore, whose most recent win for Disney was the widely-adored (and rightly so) Zootopia.
This is good news. Wreck-It Ralph was a great movie that had more under the hood, thematically speaking, than pretty much every film of its ilk bar your upper-echelon Pixar stuff, and was actually a decent, affectionate take on video game history and culture, unlike some films we could mention (lookin’ at you, Pixels).
Moore noted, “From the moment we started working on the first Wreck-It Ralph, we knew there were so many possibilities with these characters. This time, Ralph’s wrecking wreaks havoc on the Web—as only he can do. Characters we loved in the first film are back and we are ecstatic to be working with them—and the actors who voice them—once again.”
The sequel hits theatres on March 22,2018.
