Variety (and the rest of the internet) is reporting that DC/Warners’ Justice League movie is currently neck deep in some $25m worth of reshoots under director Joss Whedon, who took up the reins when original director Zack Snyder stepped down.
All up, around two months worth of reshoots are being done in both London and Los Angeles. While additional photography is certainly not unusual at the thin end of the blockbuster wedge, a schedule of that duration is, and its playing merry hell with the schedules of some of the cast members – specifically Henry Cavill, who is having trouble making his Superman duties jibe with finishing up his commitments on Mission: Impossible 6.
So, yes, Superman, (briefly) killed off in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, will be back in the saddle of Justice League – a revelation about as surprising as the sun rising in the morning or, indeed, the big blue boy scout’s return after the ’90s Death of Superman comics storyline, but there you have it.
There’s an added, wrinkle, though: Cavill’s M:I6 character sports a mustache, and apparently they won’t let him shave it off, so it “…will have to be digitally removed in post-production.”
What a time to be alive.
