Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone™ in Concert (2-5 December, Sydney Opera House Concert Hall),

Following overwhelming audience demand, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra will once again bring the magic of The Harry Potter Film Concert Series to the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall this December – a fitting celebration in a year that marks the film’s 25th anniversary.

Almost a decade after its acclaimed Sydney debut, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone™ in Concert will be presented across five performances from 2–5 December.

Conducted by Benjamin Northey, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra will perform John Williams’ complete score live and in precise synchronisation with the full-length film, projected in high definition on a 40-foot screen.

The return of the series follows sold-out performances and enthusiastic audience response when the Orchestra previously presented the full Harry Potter film cycle, beginning in 2017. Since its world premiere in 2016, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone™ in Concert has been experienced by more than 4.6 million fans across 48 countries, cementing Its place as one of the most popular movie concert events worldwide.

Audiences can expect soaring strings, sparkling woodwinds and thunderous percussion, heightening every spell and moment of wonder with the immediacy and drama only a live orchestra can deliver. Created by Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences and CineConcerts, the series is the only official global concert tour celebrating the Harry Potter films.

Justin Freer, President of CineConcerts and Producer/Conductor of the Harry Potter Film Concert Series said, “The Harry Potter film series is a once-in-a-lifetime cultural phenomenon that continues to delight millions of fans around the world. It is with great pleasure that we bring fans the opportunity to experience the award – winning music scores played live by a symphony orchestra, all while the beloved film is simultaneously projected onto the big screen.”
