Following on from the success of No Activity and Wolf Creek, Australian streaming service Stan is throwing its hat into the feature production ring with The Second. Funding for the $1 million project comes courtesy of Screen Queensland.
Directed by Mairi Cameron and written by Stephen Lance, The Second is about “…two female friends whose lives entwine in the pages of an elusive second novel”. Lance also pulls production duties alongside Leanne Tonkes.
The production is a result of the QLD Originals Fully Funded Features With Stan program, which saw four Queensland production teams compete for production funding following a supported development period.
The Second, which will get a theatrical run prior to finding a home on Stan, is expected to go into production in the back half of 2016.
