Hosted by entertainment icon Harry Connick Jr, the AACTA Industry Awards presented by Foxtel Group were held at HOTA on the Gold Coast. The event celebrated excellence in screen craft across film, television, documentary, short film, and digital production.
15 productions took out 28 awards, presented by a range of Australian screen greats, including Warwick Thornton, Kate McCartney, Kate McLennan, Darren Gilshenan, Zoe Coombs Marr and more.
The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, Deadloch and The Australian Wars dominated the television categories, walking away with three awards each. The most nominated production for this year, The Newsreader, scooped up the highly coveted Best Direction in Drama or Comedy and will look to bring home even more wins from its additional seven nominations at the AACTA Awards Ceremony on Saturday 10th February.
Brothers Danny and Michael Philippou’s break-out hit Talk to Me received the highest number of awards on the night with five, including Best Screenplay and Best Editing in Film. The other big winner across the film categories was The New Boy, collecting two wins including Best Cinematography in Film.
The remainder of this year’s AACTA Award winners will be announced at the 2024 AACTA Awards presented by Foxtel Group Ceremony on Saturday 10 February at HOTA on the Gold Coast. The AACTA Awards Ceremony will be broadcast on Channel 10 at 7pm that evening. A special director’s cut including all awards from the ceremony will be available at 7:30pm on Sunday 11 February on BINGE and Foxtel On-Demand and on AACTA TV.
