True Colours is a four part crime drama set in the Aboriginal art world in central Australia. The drama follows Detective Toni Alma (Rarriwuy Hick) as she is assigned to a suspicious car crash in Perdar Theendar, the outback community she left as a child. What starts with the investigation of a car accident soon turns into an epic hunt for a killer. It’s a murder mystery like no other exploring culture, community, family and one woman’s pursuit to find her place within it.
The cast also includes singer-songwriter Warren H. Williams, Luke Arnold, Miranda Otto, Erroll Shand, Trisha Morton Thomas and Ben Oxenbould.
The ground breaking series is in both English and Arrenrnte language. Arrenrnte is the central Australian Aboriginal language from the Mparntwe (Alice Springs) region.
True Colours is produced by the Bunya Productions team of Penny Smallacombe, Greer Simpkin and David Jowsey.
The series is directed by Erica Glynn and Steven McGregor and written by Stephen McGregor, Erica Glynn and Danielle McLean.

“True Colours excels at portraying delicate community dynamics, enhanced by cinematic shots of the NT’s staggering terrain. The trademarks of a murder mystery – dead girl, wrongfully accused boyfriend, stolen artefact – feel fresh, enlivened by Hicks’ conflicted performance and the unique exploration of Indigenous art history,” – The Big Issue
