Presented by Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal in association with Regional Arts Development Fund and Livingstone Shire Council, Mentoring our Region is an detailed three week online initiative for Livingstone Shire and greater Central Queensland emerging and practising film artists where they learn film arts skills with the intention of creating short films to premiere at 2023 festival.
The applicants will learn valuable skills and have dedicated time with practising Australian film professionals over the length of the workshops which will run for two hours each over six nights.
Interested residents are requested to apply, with up to ten places available in the initiative which has been subsidised by our project partners and is free.
The activity will provide educational skills including: Direction, Cinematography, Sound, Writing, Production and Editing. After the workshops, participants will be mentored through each stage of production as they create short films which will premiere at the upcoming 2023 Capricorn Film Festival held from the 18th-22nd January in Yeppoon.
The participants will tell theirs, the environments and their communities’ stories, aimed to promote the region, develop their skills for future opportunities and celebrate the local artists and their voices.
Tutors include Cinematographer Shing Fung Cheung, Post Production House The Post Lounge, Producer Luke Graham and actor Tim Ross [pictured] who will provide inspiration, direction and education in their chosen skills area.
The initiative will be run via ZOOM with industry tutors. Participants require no previous experience prior to the course, just an enthusiasm for cinema and filmmaking. To apply, complete the form below, with applications due 26th May.
