The film’s storyline revolves around two best friends from Los Angeles who pretend to be acclaimed film directors in order to declare their love to an ex-girlfriend now living in Bondi Beach (Australia). During 2021, the movie was filmed in and around Bondi Beach showcasing the incredible landscapes and businesses as part of the script.
Mogul Productions has also announced this week an NFT agreement and will be sponsoring the films red carpet. “Watching this film, I was reminded of the raucous buddy comedy stylings and laughs found in the Dumb and Dumber franchise,” shared Emmy Award®-nominated producer, David Cormican, and Head of Production Oversight for Mogul. “James (Pratt) is exactly the type of indie filmmaker Mogul loves partnering with for smart, fan-driven NFT campaigns. He has made a terrific film with great production values and now (he) wants to help his distributors grow the audience for the film while rewarding their most loyal fans”.
The film stars award-winning actor James Pratt (On Halloween), Brittany Hockley (The Bachelor, Life Uncut), Demitra Sealy (Fast & Furious 9), Bella Valentini (Streets of Nadia), Scott E. Miller (Once Upon a Time), and Billy White, making his debut.
The film was edited by Brianna Cook who worked on, The End of the F***ing World and lensed by Connor Jansen (Infirmity). Malibu Crush was written and directed by Pratt, a former three-time REB Australian Auctioneer of the Year award-winner and Bondi Beach local.
Malibu Crush has enjoyed a festival run throughout 2022, winning 21 major film festivals, including picking up hardware at the Los Angeles Film Awards, Cannes Film Awards and Beyond Hollywood International Film Festival.
“None of this would have been possible without the generous local support we received (while filming). The process was very humbling and clearly showed the unique bond between film makers helping each other.,” shared Pratt. “To be able to showcase Bondi Beach across Australia and America is very special, but none of this happens without all the people who got behind it”.
Malibu Crush was produced by Trisanne Marin (Guardian Angel), Daniel Musial (On Halloween), Mikaela Phillips (Madison and the Happiness Jar), and Pratt (Winter Lights). John L. Simpson (2x AFI Winner), serves as Executive Producer.
Bounty Films distributes the title across Australia and New Zealand, while Cardinal XD distributes the film in the United States, Canada and Europe.
“My favourite comedy of 2022. Funny, witty and well-made. I’m not at all surprised by the success it’s had in US film festivals,” Hollywood producer Justin L. Levine says.
