Australian Theatre Live Announces yet another Global Partnership, this time with the UK’s The Theatre Channel

Australia’s only theatre arts subscription platform, Australian Theatre Live, (ATL), today announces a landmark partnership with the UK-based subscription network The Theatre Channel, marking the fourth international arts platform to carry ATL’s filmed theatre productions and further expanding the global reach of on-stage, Australian live performance talent.

The agreement will see ATL’s growing catalogue of stage productions made available to The Theatre Channel’s international subscriber base, showcasing Australia’s leading actors, playwrights, directors and creatives to audiences worldwide.

The partnership follows ATL’s existing distribution agreements with Digital Theatre Plus and House of Oz in the United Kingdom, and Broadway on Demand in the United States.

Australian Theatre Live was inspired by the success of National Theatre Live and was founded with a clear purpose: to make the arts more accessible to Australians everywhere — particularly arts lovers in rural, regional and remote communities, for whom live performance is often out of reach or unaffordable.

“This partnership represents another important step in ensuring Australian stories and talent are seen on the world stage,” said ATL’s Creative Director and Country Practice actor, Grant Dodwell. “While our core mission is to increase access to the arts across Australia, international distribution strengthens our industry, broadens audiences, and elevates the profile of Australian theatre globally.”

ATL’s filmed productions are designed not only for audiences at home, but also as a lasting cultural resource. The growing library will provide invaluable material for students, educators and researchers of the theatrical arts, preserving Australia’s playwriting, performance and stagecraft heritage for future generations.

The six productions added to The Theatre Channel’s catalogue are Whitefella Yella Tree, This Much Is True, Away, The Dapto Chaser, Return to the Dirt, and Taming of the Shrew, representing four different Australian theatre companies.

A central priority for ATL is to inspire, encourage and promote artistic achievement at every level of Australian society, and to enable all Australians to enjoy, critique and actively participate in the development and direction of the nation’s artistic heritage.

With this new partnership, Australian Theatre Live continues to build a global platform for Australian storytelling — ensuring that the richness, diversity and creativity of our nation’s live performance industry can be experienced anywhere in the world.
