We’ve made our peace, more or less, with the fact that we’ll probably never see another John Carpenter-directed feature, but at least we’re still getting some good work out of the venerable horror maestro, in the form of the haunting electronic music he’s been putting out over the last few years. Having scored most of his films over the course of his career, Carpenter shifting into music full time makes a kind of sense, and his two albums thus far – Lost Themes and Lost Themes II – have been pretty great.

That also means we get the odd music clip, albeit in this case one not directed by Carpenter, but rather by Gavin Hignight and Ben Verhulst, who also produced. Taken from Lost Themes II, “Utopian Facade” sees a female-presenting android do battle with a small horde of the undead in a benighted forest. There’s a nice retro-SF aesthetic going on, plus a cameo from JC himself at the tail end – check it out.
