Here’s a bigger. bolder look at our impending return to the world of Harry Potter. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sees Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander tasked with tracking down all the magical critters he’s accidentally let loose in 1920s New York City, before the magical and muggle (or no-maj in this case) worlds come to blows. Chaos and Colin Farrell ensue.
For Redmayne this isn’t his first brush with the magical world, and getting cast as the film’s adventuring beast-wrangler was a dream come true. “I was obsessed with magic as a kid,” he confided to us. “I used to go to this little shop under Charing Cross, right in London, there’s this slightly dingy subway beneath Charing Cross station, and there’s this shop called Davenport’s, and it’s the most wonderful magic shop, and I used to go and stand, and sort of look through the window. So my grandma, when I got this part, was like ‘Eddie! You actually get to be a wizard!’ I was like, ‘I know!'”
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them apparates into cinemas on November 17.
