The dude approves! Or does he?! Tron: Ares opened to relatively soft numbers, $4k screen average on 500+ screens. Box office, in general, was down 35% on last weekend, with other new releases such as Australian films The Travellers and Beast of War underwhelming. Speaking of local films, it seems like the only way to make our cinema a success is to release family films about animals during the school holidays, a la Kangaroo and Runt, both of which appear on this week’s charts. If you can’t beat them in terms of cinema and media support, might as well join them.
