So, how did Francis Ford Coppola’s decades-in-the-making self-funded pet project fare at the Australian box office? Mega or Megaflopolis? Well, somewhere in between actually. No doubt bolstered by premium priced sessions at IMAX, it still performed relatively well on a modest sized release, with a reasonable screen average. Will it make the maestro’s money back? No, but you can’t take it with you, right?! Elsewhere, school holiday fare dominated, and it’s particularly great to see an Australian film, Runt, sparring it with Hollywood studio franchises.
