The Australian Director’s Guild have announced the nominees doe the 2017 Awards. In an unusual twist, the five helmers battling for Best Direction in a Feature Film are all feature film debuts: Garth Davis (Lion), Simon Stone (The Daughter), Ben Young (Hounds of Love), Craig Boreham (Teenage Kicks) and Jonathan Leahy (Skin Deep).
The category of Best Direction in a TV or SVOD Drama sees nominations for Emma Freeman for Secret City – The Watchers (Series 1, Episode 2), Leah Purcell forCleverman – Sun and Moon (Series 1, Episode 4), Rowan Woods for Rake (Series 4, Episode 6) and Tony Krawitz for The Kettering Incident – The Search (Series 1, Episode 3). This year there are three nominations in the category of Best Direction in a Mini Series, with Geoff Bennett receiving a nomination for Brock alongside Kevin Carlin for Molly and Robert Connolly for Barracuda.
The ADG Awards will take place on Friday, May 5, at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins. For more information, head to the official site.
