Professor Vrasidas Karalis will give a lecture, The cinematographer George Miller and the Greek contribution to Australian culture, as part of the 35th Greek Festival of Sydney. This will be followed by a Q&A session with the acclaimed director himself.
The professor’s talk will centre on Miller’s Greek heritage and his work as a producer, writer and director, zeroing in on his visual aesthetic and attempting a cultural reading of his films, suggesting that the central figure is the outcast who becomes accepted by an initially unfriendly and hostile society.
This free event takes place at Eastern Avenue Auditorium, University of Sydney, on Thursday, April 20, from 6.30pm. RSVP is essential on 02 9750 0440 or greekfestival@goc.com.au.
