The Indigenous-themed documentary, Zach’s Ceremony, will screen at the Byron Bay Film Festival’s 10th Red Carpet Gala Opening Night, kicking off 10 days of films, events and general celebration.

10 years in the making, Zach’s Ceremony details a boy’s journey to manhood in a complex, emotionally driven story, contrasting traditional Indigenous culture with the pressures and demands of modern life.

Australia’s largest regional film festival, BBFF runs from October 14 – 13, with screenings, sidebars, Q&As and other events taking place in venues across the NSW coastal town. Chris Hemsworth, who lives in the town with his wife, Elsa Pataky, when he’s not dabbling in acting, recently flew the flag for the festival, roping in some colleagues to help:
