Will Poulter and Anthony Mackie will be in Australia this week to introduce two screenings of Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow’s latest film, Detroit.
Set in the titular city during 1967’s 12th Street Riot, Detroit centers on the shooting of three unarmed black men at the Algiers Motel by white police officers. It’s a searing, challenging, at times punishing work, and is a hot tip for this year’s Oscars. Mackie and Poulter, who are both part of the film’s excellent ensemble cast, introduce the film tonight, Monday, October 23, at the Palace Como in Melbourne (moderated by Zac Hepburn), and tomorrow, Tuesday, October 24, at the Palace Verona in Sydney (moderated by Giles Hardie).
