No one really doubted the appeal of Disney’s reimagining of their property Beauty and the Beast, especially after its strong bow in the US (where it has already taken $350mil+), but this big? Cinderella certainly didn’t do this well, and it bodes strongly that more live action interpretations will be fast tracked into production.

Indian Telugu language film Katamarayudu (a remake of 2014 Tamil film Veeram) really took off after a soft first few days, whilst indie Aussie flick Rough Stuff has done its dash after two weeks in release.
