We had Kriv Stenders’ intense classic Boxing Day and now comes another Aussie flick going down the 1-shot route, Watch the Sunset from emerging filmmakers Tristan Barr and Michael Gosden.
Shot in the country town of Kerang in Victoria, the story follows Danny (Barr), an outlaw bikie who wants to change ways and settle down with his family. As it too often does in the movies, the past catches up and threatens his family. Touching on the ice epidemic in regional Australia, ultimately the filmmakers promise that this is a story of love and redemption.
With an Australian premiere at the upcoming Revelation Perth Film Festival, famous for showcasing edgy new content, we have it from a good source that this indie really delivers, so be sure to seek it out when it turns up in your neck of the woods. If anything, Watch the Sunset looks like it will live up to its title when it comes to the local talent on show here.
