Kate Beckinsale’s renegade vampire is back, possibly fighting werewolves again, possibly fighting vampires, possibly both. It’s so hard to tell. There are five of these things now. This one is subtitled Blood Wars, which are presumably different to the war and/or wars that have already been raging across the course of the series.  Let’s see if the official synopsis can shed any light:

The next installment in the blockbuster franchise, Underworld: Blood Wars follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Nup!

The last Underworld movie, whose name escapes us at the moment, wasn’t completely terrible because it treated its subject matter with a bit of a tongue-in-cheek attitude but let’s face facts: this whole series feels like it’s based off a band logo textaed onto a canvas schoolbag circa 1995 rather than anything as sophisticated as an actual script.

Underworld: Blood Wars hits cinemas on the Feast Day of Saint Eligius. That’s December 1 to you and me.
