Biggie got Notorious and NWA were lionised in Straight Outta Compton. Now Tupac Shakur, gangsta revolutionary, gets a moment in the posthumous spotlight with All Eyez On Me.

From the presser: “All Eyez on Me  is the epic life story of legendary music artist, Tupac Shakur. The movie, helmed by Director Benny Boom, and produced by LT Hutton (Morgan Creek Productions), chronicles the rapper / actor’s life from his humble beginnings through his turbulent rise to fame and subsequent violent demise.”

Music video director Benny Boom is calling the shots on this one, and the relatively unknown Demetrius Shipp Jr. is stepping into the lead role, which means we don’t have much of a work record to judge by. The Tupac story requires deft handling – let’s hope these guys are up to the job.

All Eyez on Me releases in Australian cinemas on June 15, 2017.
