Shooting in Ghana, the home of no-budget exploitation films collectively known as ‘Kumawood’, the founder of cult video shop Trash Video turned filmmaker (The Search for Weng Weng) sets off on his biggest cinematic adventure yet.
Described as an action-comedy, The Taller They Come is directed by and stars Andrew Leavold (seated right) as Alby Wrangler, who joins Kumawood veteran Samuel K. Nkansah (aka Ninja, seated left) in remaking the cult classic The Harder They Come, but as a Spaghetti Western/Kung Fu hybrid cast with local little people…
The film is executive produced by Brett Garten, and production company Maximum Daddy-O, who collaborated with Leavold on Pub: The Movie and Film Safari Ghana.
Australian actors Kristen Condon (below right) and Kiefer Findlow (below left) join Leavold in the cast, along with 40+ Kumawood actors and stuntmen. Findlow will also shoot the film. Apart from acting in the film, Samuel K. Nkansah will also line produce, and look after fight and stunt choreography and VFX.
