TV chefs are literally a dime a dozen these days (seriously, does MasterChef really need four judge/host people?), but the late, great Anthony Bourdain was something different altogether. He led a sad, fascinating, exhilarating life, and the new biopic Tony – directed by Matt Johnson (the excellent Nirvanna: The Band – The Show – The Movie) and starring The Holdovers breakout talent Dominic Sessa – tackles just the early part of it, tracking Bourdain’s move from aspiring writer to trainee chef, under the watchful eye of Antonio Banderas in the Yoda/Mr. Miyagi role. This one looks special indeed…book us a table…but don’t jack our credit card if we can’t turn up or something, okay?
