From its bold-statement, no-nonsense title to its on-point humour and inclusion (about time!) of Krypto, everything about writer/director James Gunn’s new take on DC Comics’ figurehead Superman looks to be deliriously, excitingly right. After Warners’ previously bizarre and horribly confused approach to its superhero universe cash-cow, it looks like DC Studios could very well be in the right hands, with Mr. Gunn now overseeing the entire slate. If Superman lives up to the rich emotion stirred up by this trailer, Gunn’s upcoming swathe of superhero flicks could very well be special indeed. While the fan-boys-and-girls lose it online over Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, we’re expecting most of the scene stealing in Superman to be done by Nicholas Hoult as super-arsehole Lex Luthor and Pruitt Taylor Vince, a truly genius pick to play Jonathan Kent, Superman’s earthbound dad. Up, up and away!
