Hang on, since when has beefcake Brendan Fraser become a respectable leading man? Yes, The Whale, we get it, but still… Hikari (one of the directors on Beef and Tokyo Vice) co-writes and directs this tale of a jobbing actor scoring a gig in Japan as a stand-in for real families looking someone to fill a void in their lives. Sounds like a bit of a cliche about the Japanese, but who are we to say?
