Another literary classic gets rejigged as a feminist vehicle for a hot young female star by a talented female creative. This time, it’s John Steinbeck’s powerful novel East Of Eden, with the Marvellous Florence Pugh repositioned as its narrative centre by actress/writer and showrunner Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks) for a multi-part Netflix series. This one looks impressive to the extreme. Fun fact! Zoe Kazan’s grandfather, Elia Kazan, directed the 1955 version of East Of Eden with James Dean.
