Quentin Tarantino’s next film will be based on the real life murders orchestrated by cult leader Charles Manson, with the director already approaching the likes of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence to populate his latest vision.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film, which so far lacks a title, will most likely centre on the 1969 killing of actress (and wife of director Roman Polanski) Sharon Tate, who was four months pregnant when she and four other people were brutally murdered by members of the Manson Family. That would make sense given Tarantino’s exhaustively documented love of lurid Hollywood lore. Indeed, if we’re going to stretch speculation to its limits, it’s easy to posit the entire film being built around that one event, mimicking The Hateful Eight‘s limited location, almost stagebound style.
Bob and Harvey Weinstein will produce, with the pair currently seeking a major investment and distribution partner.
All of this is tentative at the moment, and there’s many a slip between cup and lip, but it’s certainly exciting news. Let the wild guessing begin!
