In Event Zero, a contagious virus is released in the Sydney subway sets off a chain of violence and political maneuvering. While Detective Leyla Nassar (Offspring‘s Ash Ricardo) searches for the real culprits, the Deputy Premier Pamela Laird (Zoe Carides) battles duplicitous politicians eager to leverage the attack for their own ends.
Marking the directorial debut of seasoned producer/editor Enzo Tedeschi and co-starring Nicholas Hope, Andy Rodoreda, Harry Pavlidis, Raelee Hill and Paul Ayre, Event Zero was written by Greta Harrison and Matthew C. Vaughan, and produced by Cathy Rechichi. It was filmed across Sydney in Erskineville, Homebush, Olympic Park Station, Pymble and Rozelle.
For those with long memories, Event Zero started as an idea as one of the earliest web series, commissioned by the now defunct Movie Network back in 2012, with various emerging filmmakers directing different episodes, including Shane Abbess (Infini), Andrew Traucki (The Reef), Carlo Ledesma (The Tunnel) and Marc Furmie (Terminus).
The film makes its Australian premiere at the Gold Coast Film Festival’s closing night on Sunday, April 30, followed by a cast and crew Q&A.

What an woeful excuse for a movie!
Appalling script, woeful continuity, hopeless acting, embarrassing editing job.
Suffered through 40 minutes of this rubbish at Avalon Cinema then walked out.
How did Screen Australia get conned into wasting taxpayer money helping fund this unwatchable piece of garbage?
Questions need to be asked!
