The 11th annual CinefestOZ Film Festival is a biscuit over six months away, taking place in Western Australia;s Busselton/Margaret River area from August 22 – 26. A fantastic celebration of Australian and international cinema, CinefestOZ has quickly become a destination festival, attracting great films and notable talent from across the country and around the world. That’s because it takes place in region known for its wineries, breweries, produce and food – it’s not so much a festival as a kind of cinematic cultural degustation, and well worth checking out if you have the means.

However, let’s not bury the lede: the doors are now open for Australian submissions in three major categories: Film Prize, general submissions for narrative and documentary feature length films, and  short films.

The first category is, of course, the one that attracts the most attention, seeing as it centres on a $100,000 cash prize  awarded for excellence in filmmaking to an Australian feature, with the winner announced at a gala evening on 25 August. Previous winners include Ali’s Wedding, Girl Asleep and Putuparri and the Rainmakers.

Indigenous filmmakers are encouraged to submit in all film categories.

Submissions in all categories are now open and close on Friday, June 1, 2018.

Online submissions forms and entry rules and regulations can be found at the official site. Enquiries are welcomed for submissions of new film mediums, including augmented and virtual reality. Enquire via email.
