SBS Picks Up Wellington Paranormal

July 12, 2018
The horror/comedy/mockumentary airs from July 31.

We called it. When the trailer for What We Do in the Shadows spin-off Wellington Paranormal dropped we said that an Australian outfit would snap up the local rights pretty sharpish, and lo, SBS did answer the call.

Specifically, the series, executive produced by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, will air on SBS Viceland from Tuesday, July 31 with a double episode, with episodes dropping weekly after that. SBS On Demand will also have episodes available for streaming, with the full season available from 28 August.

For those not up to spped, here’s the official synopsis: “”Sergeant Ruawai Maaka of the Wellington Police enlists the aid of Officers Minogue and O’Leary to tackle paranormal events in New Zealand’s capital city. In a police reality show style, the 6 part series follows these kiwi cops as they investigate cases such as the demon possession of a teenager, a noise complaint at a haunted house and a blood bank robbery.

It’s gonna be fun.
