A bittersweet, coming of ager, Rally Caps washes over the viewer with a beautiful, yet sentimental sense of family, friendship, loss, and growth through the eyes of a young boy that dreams of becoming a baseball player just like his late father. Adapted from the novel by Stephen J. Cutler and Jodi Michelle Cutler, Lee Cipolla adapts and directs this inspirational story about the true beauty of never giving up on your dream, even after failure.
The story follows Jordy’s (Carson Minniear) journey of self-discovery and growth after a horrific accident whilst pitching for a Little League baseball tryout. Since then, he has struggled with his inner-trauma, recent loss of his father, and his confidence. With the support of his pop Herb (Judd Hirsch) and mom Nora (Amy Smart), they continue to cheer Jordy on and convince him to go to a baseball summer camp in hopes of re-forming the bond with his older brother, Rob (Ben Morang). There, Jordy meets a deaf boy who recently had Cochlear Implant surgery. With their new friendship, they join forces with other young outcasts aspiring to become famous baseball players and form their very own, unique team called the “Rally Caps.”
Rally Caps is a beautiful story about a young boy who struggles with inner battles, but with the support of his older brother, family, new friendships, and his journey of self-discovery, he is able to chase and never give up on his dream. A great little sports-themed drama that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
