We Interrupt This Broadcast, the acclaimed Australian screen industry podcast delivering sharp analysis and in-depth conversations with the people shaping film, television, and digital media, today announces an exciting new era with the addition of Loani Arman, Robbie Miles, and Aven Yap, as co-hosts, joining continuing host Kirsty Stark, bringing new perspectives on the future of the screen industry to the podcast’s rapidly growing audience.

The announcement follows the departure of founding co-host Julie Eckersley, who was instrumental in establishing the podcast as a trusted source of insight for the Australian screen sector.

“Building We Interrupt This Broadcast with Julie has been such a rewarding experience and I’ll miss having her as a co-host as she takes up her new role with Screen Queensland,” said Kirsty Stark. “I’m now genuinely excited to welcome Loani, Aven, and Robbie, who each bring different perspectives and ideas to expand the scope and impact of the podcast in 2026.”

Loani Arman is a writer, director, and screen executive with over 20 years in the Australian screen industry, including her AIDC Award winning documentary My Body Says and as executive producer of the AACTA-winning series Latecomers. She most recently co-wrote a feature film adaptation of a hugely popular horror title.

Aven Yap is a producer, writer, content creator working across Australia and Asia, and founder of Nimbus Creative. His credits span scripted and documentary projects for ABC, Nine, Disney+/NatGeo, and his award-winning short Piano Mums has a feature adaptation in development with investment from Screen Queensland and Screen Australia.

Robbie Miles is a producer, educator and screen industry strategist with a deep interest in how creative work actually gets made. He currently leads industry engagement at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) and develops projects across film, television and digital platforms through Miles Ahead Productions.

Since its launch, the podcast has quickly become one of the breakout Australian screen-industry shows of 2025. Spotify Wrapped shows it ranks in the top debut podcasts across all topics and genres globally, outperforming 96% of new shows and earning more shares than 98% of its peers.

The new hosting team will debut from February 20, and will make their first public appearance at the upcoming AACTA Festival on the Gold Coast, presenting a panel and interactive experience exploring big ideas for the future of the Australian screen industry.

Loani Arman said she’s looking forward to some lively conversations. “I’m thrilled to join the team to help spark thoughtful, inclusive, and energised conversations that highlight new voices, untold stories, and explore more collaborative ways of creating in our industry. And, fair warning to listeners, it all comes with a very loud laugh.”

Aven Yap reflected, “After COVID, the strikes, and the upheaval across the media landscape, it’s become clear how vulnerable our industry really is. I joined the podcast to help shift the conversation toward putting power, agency, and self-determination back into the hands of practitioners. I love the word ‘interrupt’ in the podcast’s title, and I’ll be bringing my insatiable curiosity to challenge the status quo and equip listeners for rapid change.”

Robbie Miles added, “I love this industry and I’ve learned so much from the podcast. I wish I had a resource like this when I was fumbling my way through, so I take it as a personal mission to help translate complex ideas and shifting industry dynamics into actionable insights for our listeners. I also selfishly want to see more great Australian content.”

We Interrupt This Broadcast is available on all major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify. The podcast is currently sponsored by AFTRS, and is a Media Partner of the AACTA Festival for 2026.

Episodes featuring the new hosting team will be released weekly from 20 February 2026.
