The film will play at the iconic Quad Cinema, in Greenwich Village, NYC on Saturday 29th July at midday, Eastern Daylight Time. It is the sole Australian entry in the program. Filmink writer Annette Basile called the film “that rare beast – a true original”.
The film has had a stellar 12 months across the globe since premiering at the 25th Revelation Perth International Film Festival this time in 2022.
Nominated for the inaugural Blackmagic Innovation Award at the 70th Melbourne International Film Festival, The Lonely Spirits Variety Hour was awarded Best Film at the 16th Sydney Underground Film Festival. Also recognised was Nitin Vengurlekar, the film’s star and co-writer, who won Best Actor at the 2022 Festival des Antipodes in Saint-Tropez, France and was nominated Best Actor by the 2022 Australian Film Critics Association’s Awards.
The entire team are thrilled the film will be showcased in New York City at AAIFF. The Lonely Spirits Variety Hour has been picked up for sales & distribution by Melbourne’s Bounty Films.
