Retro Gamers is a documentary film exploring all things games, computers and technology. It will be screening on Sunday the 23rd of this month as part of the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival at Cinema Nova on Lygon Street in Carlton.
In this documentary, we meet retro electronics enthusiast Cameron Bonde. Cameron is like many others part of the retro gaming community in Melbourne and around the world who like to collect and preserve old video game hardware. Amidst a resurgence in popularity for past gaming glories, and a social appetite for nostalgia, Cameron reflects on where video games came from, and the desire people have for novelty.
Retro Gamers has been selected to play in overseas festivals such as Gen Con in the USA and the Kanazawa Film Festival in Japan. This will be the only Melbourne screening in its festival run so come down to one of Melbourne’s most cherished cinemas and catch the screening!
