Partnering with video distribution automation (VDA) platform that facilitates online film festivals to deliver screenings programs and engage with the audience named Endavo Media, we are pleased to invite you to celebrate short films while staying safe at home.
From over 1500 submissions, the SSFF will be bringing a selection of 38 films from around the globe. While most of those impressive shorts are produced under the Covid-19 circumstances, some of the official selections’ line-up are action short CHAINED by NSW-based director Mathew John Pearson, THE BETTER ANGELS by Adelaide-based director Michael Cusack, and Sheffield DocFest’s Best Film Award Winner ALI AND HIS MIRACLE SHEEP by UK-based Director Maythem Ridha.
Virtual audiences based in Australia will also have exclusive access to six short films, which are SRI LANKA’S REBEL WIFE (Kannan Arunasalam), HORACIO (Caroline Cherrier), Istanbul Golden Short Film Festival’s Best Short Film Award Winner titled SPACEBOY (Veerle De Wilde), Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film’s Official Selection titled THE EDGE (Zaide Kutay and Géraldine Cammisar), International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA)’s Official Selection titled SAME/DIFFERENT/BOTH/NEITHER (Adriana Barbosa and Fernanda Pessoa) and Show Me Shorts International Short Film Festival’s Best Editor Winner titled JUNE (Dwayne Cameron).
The four-day online screening will include a pre-recorded Question & Answer session, which can be accessed through the SSFF’s Instagram and Facebook platforms, as well as the SSFF winner’s announcement. The winners will be selected by the SSFF team and guest juries: Dan Walls (Writer and Director) for the Best Short Film category and Lylah D’Souza, Australia-based Writer, Director, Producer, Art Director, and 3D Artist, judging for the Best Short Animation category.
The SSFF 2022 will be available online in partnership with Endavo Media on the link sydneyshortfilmfest.ottchannel.com, which will be available during the festival. Viewers can watch the film by signing up for free. All films in foreign languages will be screened with English subtitles.
