Experience Andrzej Żuławski’s feverish, visceral psychological horror Possession (1981) on the big screen at RMIT’s The Capitol this Halloween. As part of RMIT University’s popular ‘The Best Films You’ve Never Seen’ series, tickets are once again priced to ensure accessibility for everyone.
Before he became famous in Jurassic Park, a young Sam Neill starred alongside Isabelle Adjani in Andrzej Żuławski’s disturbing cult classic Possession (1981).
Set in a divided Cold War-era Berlin, Possession is a wildly intense exploration of love, jealousy, breakdown and the dissolution of a marriage. Żuławski’s fiercely physical film blurs the boundaries between psychological horror, surrealism and body horror, creating an unforgettable portrait of relationships pushed to the brink.
The screening will open with an insightful introduction from an RMIT Cinema Studies academic, offering fresh perspectives and context for audiences revisiting Possession or experiencing it for the first time.
Join us this Halloween to experience one of cinema’s most unsettling and darkly mesmerising films. Possession demands to be seen on the big screen at The Capitol.
