Screenworks, the leading industry body supporting screen industry professionals across regional Australia, is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Rose as its new Chief Executive Officer, commencing 1 July 2026.
Lisa Rose joins Screenworks bringing extensive experience in organisational leadership, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement across the screen and cultural sectors, having most recently served as Festival Director at Queer Screen. During her tenure she led significant organisational growth, developed industry programs and partnerships, and built strong relationships across government, funding bodies and the broader screen sector.

Lisa brings exactly the combination of organisational rigour and genuine passion for the screen industry that aligns with Screenworks’ vision. Her experience building programs, partnerships and pathways for screen practitioners makes her exceptionally well placed to lead the organisation as Screenworks continues to strengthen the fabric of regional Australia’s screen industry and develop the pipeline of talent that contributes to Australian screen culture.”
Screenworks new CEO, Lisa Rose said, “Screenworks has long been one of the most respected screen industry development organisations in Australia, and I’ve admired its impact for many years. Growing up in Tasmania, I understand how important access to opportunities, networks and professional development can be for people living outside major metropolitan centres. I’m excited to join the organisation at such a pivotal time and to work with the Board, team and industry to support screen practitioners wherever they choose to live and work.”
Lisa Rose is passionate about creating opportunities, strengthening career pathways and supporting sustainable participation in the Australian screen industry. She will lead Screenworks as they head towards their flagship Regional to Global Screen Forum this September in Lennox Head NSW, and as the organisation continues to deliver innovative and relevant development programs – fostering a thriving and diverse regional screen sector.
For 25 years, Screenworks has supported and empowered screen creatives and crew across regional Australia, offering career development, skills training and networking opportunities to foster diverse voices and contribute to Australia’s pipeline of regional film and television talent.
LISA ROSE BIO
Lisa Rose is an experienced organisational leader with a background spanning business operations, audience development, stakeholder engagement and screen cultural programming. She spent eight years as Festival Director of Queer Screen, where she led the strategic, operational and curatorial delivery of the Mardi Gras Film Festival, Queer Screen Film Fest and a range of industry development initiatives supporting emerging screen practitioners. During her tenure, Lisa oversaw organisational growth, developed industry programs and partnerships, and built strong relationships across government, funding bodies, cultural institutions and the broader screen sector. She is passionate about creating opportunities, strengthening career pathways and supporting sustainable participation in the Australian screen industry.
