On 26 February 2026, short film Reverie premieres at Palms on Oxford as part of Mardi Gras.

The film centres on Gregory, a man in his 60s who has just come out after a lifetime of silence. What begins as a one-night encounter with a younger man unfolds into something far more intimate, a conversation neither of them expected to have. Reverie isn’t about sex. It’s about what happens when two generations of queer men finally stop performing and start listening.

“The idea came from a small moment I witnessed during Mardi Gras, an older man quietly paying for two young men’s drinks, who were having trouble with a debit card. They assumed he was hitting on them. He was simply being kind as it was Mardi Gras. It stayed with me. How often do we misread each other? How much history do we carry that the next generation never had to survive?” said director Eric Nash.

“The film now holds deeper resonance. Since filming, we lost our lead, Brent Thorpe, a performer whose stage career was as bold and unforgettable as his presence on screen. In Reverie, he delivers a performance of remarkable restraint and vulnerability, one that now feels like both a gift and a farewell.”

Reverie is a small film about big things…shame, freedom, forgiveness and the quiet power of being truly seen.
