Renowned American filmmaker Don Hertzfeldt has had a long, successful career across four decades, with two of his short films Oscar-nominated for Best Animated Short (Rejected, his parody of U.S. advertisements, and World of Tomorrow, which spawned two sequels). His films have consistently received universal critical and popular acclaim (just check out his Wikipedia page for his accolades and superlatives), with Q&A sessions in North America regularly selling out, as well as being invited to create a couch gag for The Simpsons, and animate the logo of Jennifer Lawrence’s film production company.
Don is re-releasing his opus It’s Such A Beautiful Day in cinemas starting from this month, pairing it with screenings of his new short film ME, which began originally as a music video for Arcade Fire. Already in the States, week-long screenings are selling out across the country.
Screenings have been added in three Australian cities:
- New Farm Cinemas, Brisbane, Saturday June 1 and Sunday June 2
- Cinema Nova, Melbourne, four screenings from Thursday June 6
- Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace, Sydney, one screening only on Sunday June 9.
