Headquartered in Sydney, Screen Inc. is founded by Dov Kornits — theatrical distributor, film festival curator, and co-founder and publisher of Australia’s longest running consumer movie magazine, FilmInk.

Celebrating unique voices, visions and stories, the company officially launches in Sydney in November with three special one-off screenings of some of its hottest titles, ahead of their digital releases, in the first-ever SCREEN INC. Showcase.

Filmmakers, cast members and film industry professionals will attend the Showcase gala screenings, where Kornits will introduce each film and talk briefly about Screen Inc.’s arrival, content, and upcoming theatrical titles.  A filmmaker Q&A will follow each screening.

The SCREEN INC. Showcase will be spearheaded by the Opening Night screening of ‘The Land,’ a powerful Australian drama of family and secrets, and stunning directorial debut for acclaimed photographer Ingvar Kenne on November 9 (Randwick Ritz Cinemas, 6.30pm.)

Australian feature ‘Cedar Boys’, Serhat Caradee’s edgy, tense drama which follows the lives of three young men from Sydney’s outer west, screens on November 13 (Event Cinemas George Street, 3pm). SCREEN INC. is handling global rights for this film.

The third Showcase film,The Florist’, a sharp satire of Los Angeles’ New Age lifestyles, screens on November 10 (Event Cinemas George Street, 6.30pm).

SCREEN INC. has a slate of upcoming titles for theatrical distribution in Australia, including:

Steve Jaggi said: “The Steve Jaggi Company is excited to be continuing our decade long relationship with Dov Kornits and we look forward to Screen Inc. releasing our upcoming slate of quality commercial titles, including our much-loved Romance and Young Adult Films.”

SCREEN INC. founder and Managing Director, Dov Kornits, has spent three decades working in the Australian film industry. He may be best known for Filmink Magazine, which has clocked up 25 years in 2022, and which he will continue to oversee in the future, but he has runs on the board distributing films.

Appointed Head of Theatrical for Umbrella Entertainment in 2017, Kornits released You Were Never Really Here and The Go-Betweens: Right Here among many others into cinemas.

A year later, he started his own film distribution company—Filmink Presents, later renamed as Pivot Pictures— and released films including Wrinkles the Clown, The Legend of the Five, Talking About Trees, UNSOUND, Swallows of Kabul, Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowan and The Killing of Two Lovers.

Films such as Romance on the Menu, Sweet River and The Greenhouse were also released directly to Netflix in Australia and NZ, and Kornits released other Australian films into cinemas, including Heath Davis and Gus Watts’ Locusts, Ivan Sen’s Loveland, and Kasimir Burgess’ Franklin.

In 2022, Kornits exited Pivot Pictures and founded SCREEN INC.

Kornits said: “I cannot think of a better deed than discovering a great movie and sharing it with others. Film distribution is really an extension of what I have been doing since my university days when my passion for cinema inspired me to start a film society; then FilmInk and now Screen Inc. I look forward to sharing my passion for cinematic storytelling with audiences and with likeminded businesses such as cinemas and streamers.”

Tanya Esposito, Producer/Executive Producer, One Tree Productions said: “As a producer, releasing theatrical is still of utmost importance. Dov totally gets it. His experience shone through with his management of our successful national theatrical release of The Legend of the Five juggling through Covid lockdowns and cinema closures in 2020. Always want him on my team for AU/NZ distribution.

Greg Ferris, ‘The Land’ Producer said: “‘The Land’ is pleased to partner with SCREEN INC., a company with a passion for the intimate, grittier works outside of the mainstream—true independents who can see a place and an audience for a type of riskier cinema that has something to say.”
