The series will premiere on Netflix in early 2027.
Director: Darren Dale
Writers: Andrew Boe
Producers: Darren Dale (Total Control, The Australian Wars)
Executive Producers: Andrew Boe, Jacob Hickey
Logline: A landmark documentary series examining the events and far-reaching repercussions of the two fatal shots fired in 2.6 seconds that ended the life of 19-year-old Kumanjayi Walker, and forced a national reckoning with justice, policing and race in Australia.
Darren Dale, Blackfella Films Producer, said: “2.6 Seconds is a shocking story about the collision of race and power that is uniquely Australian but one I’ve always believed also has global resonance. Netflix coming on board ahead of our TIFF premiere is confirmation of that belief and I cannot wait to see how international audiences respond to this powerful series.”
Amanda Duthie, Content Director Netflix ANZ said: “Some stories stay with you long after the screening, and 2.6 Seconds is one of those. Netflix is honoured to bring this deeply moving Australian documentary to Netflix audiences around the world, giving a powerful and important story the opportunity to resonate far beyond our shores.”
2.6 Seconds is a co-commission between SBS and NITV with the production of Blackfella Films in association with PAW Media. Major production investment from Screen Australia’s First Nations Department in association with SBS. Financed with support from Screen NSW. Produced in association with All3Media International, part of the media and entertainment group Banijay Entertainment.
