MUSHROOM STUDIOS & THE RESET COLLECTIVE JOIN FORCES TO BRING NEW BARRY KEOGHAN & FRANZ ROGOWSKI FILM BIRD TO AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND
Mushroom Studios and The Reset Collective are delighted to announce they have jointly acquired BIRD, the highly anticipated film starring BAFTA winner and Academy Award® nominee Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, The Banshees of Inisherin) and Franz Rogowski (Passages, A Hidden Life), alongside newcomers Nykiya Adams and Jason Buda.
Mushroom and Reset will bring the film to cinemas across Australia and New Zealand in early 2025. Directed by Academy Award® winning English filmmaker Andrea Arnold (American Honey, Fish Tank, Wasp), BIRD has already garnered significant global attention for its raw performances and thought-provoking, genre bending narrative.
Earlier this year the film had its world premiere in competition at the Cannes Film Festival where it received a seven-minute standing ovation. The coming-of-age drama has since been selected to screen at the Toronto Film Festival, with more to be announced soon.
Mushroom Studios Chief Operating Officer Bethany Jones said: “Bird is one of the year’s most highly anticipated independent films. With Andrea Arnold’s exceptional direction and Barry Keoghan’s powerful performance, the film delivers a story that will deeply resonate with audiences.
We’re delighted to partner with The Reset Collective to bring Bird to audiences across Australia and New Zealand. Securing Bird in our region exemplifies both Mushroom Studios and The Reset Collective’s dedication to collaborating with top-tier filmmakers, both from Australia and abroad, who bring original and compelling narratives to life.”
The Reset Collective Managing Director Lisa Garner said: “We are thrilled to team up with Mushroom on Bird! Our shared love for independent film makes this partnership especially meaningful. Bird gifts audiences with a uniquely magical and captivating storytelling experience, the characters and their world linger long after the credits roll – we can’t wait to bring the film to Australian and New Zealand audiences.”
