The Veil stars George Basha, L.A. based Australian Nancy Rizk, newcomer Sophie Shafeeva in the lead role, Tylor Thoroughgood, Armin Ghanbari and Adaja Black. Shot in western Sydney by award winning cinematographer Martin McGrath and with sound by Tim Lloyd and post production by the director and his brother Stephen, The Veil has garnered over 28 wins and nominations on the global festival circuit, including at The Brazil International Short Film Festival and the prestigious LA Shorts Screenplay Contest.
The Veil deals with the struggle of a young woman, Affaf, as she seeks to reconcile the traditional culture of her parents and that of modern Australia. A victim of an horrific ‘honour crime’, Affaf is not deterred from seeking justice against those that caused her suffering.
Dealing with a strong social issue, The Veil was selected for the AACTA Social Shorts Competition in 2018 and will be available for streaming worldwide (with optional captions) on INDIEFLIX from Wednesday 20 July 2022.
