MUBI, the global streaming service, distributor, and production company announces the global acquisition (excluding North America) of Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall. The film will have its world premiere at the 64th New York Film Festival and – announced today – its UK premiere at the 70th BFI London Film Festival 2026. Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall will arrive on MUBI in 2027, with further release plans to follow.
Shot and directed by Oscar-winning director Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle After Another, Phantom Thread, There Will Be Blood), the concert film was captured on 35mm and 16mm film during a sold-out solo performance from Geese frontman, Cameron Winter, at iconic New York City venue Carnegie Hall in December 2025.
Capturing the stunning, stripped-down set in which Winter accompanied himself on a Steinway grand piano, the music was recorded and produced for the film by music producer Ariel Rechtshaid (Grammy-winner for albums with Vampire Weekend and Adele).
The film is co-produced by filmmaker and actor Benny Safdie, who also served as a camera operator during production, and produced by Sara Murphy, Erica Frauman and Maggie Ambrose.
MUBI has acquired worldwide rights excluding North America. Janus Films and Criterion will release the film in North America.
SYNOPSIS
Cameron Winter, in December 2025, after a months-long sold-out tour with his band Geese, returned to New York to play a single show at Carnegie Hall. This is the movie.
GQ praised Cameron Winter’s show at Carnegie Hall as “staggeringly good,” and Nick Cave said he has “a glorious, emotive voice with brilliant, blistering words, a racked and wondrous thing.” Winter’s solo album Heavy Metal was named one of the best of the year by Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Paste and Mojo and Geese’s last record Getting Killed was named the best album of 2025 by The New Yorker, NME, and Stereogum. Winter was one of the youngest people ever to headline Carnegie Hall (at 23), edged out slightly by Bob Dylan (22, in 1963).
Partisan Records / Play It Again Sam will release the performance as a live album – Live at Carnegie Hall – on October 9th. The album was produced, mixed, and recorded live by Ariel Rechtshaid.

Cameron Winter is the frontman for the NYC-based band Geese. His debut solo album Heavy Metal was released in Dec 2024 to critical acclaim, with single “Love Takes Miles” landing at #1 on Pitchfork’s Best Songs of the Year list and GQ hailing it as “a modern classic”. Heavy Metal also earned Winter performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Jools Holland, and a profile with The New York Times.
