The success that Bay has generated with a list of director-producer credits that include Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and the Transformers movie franchise, ranks him fourth in the world for the highest-grossing film directors of all time; reeling in more than $9.1 billion.
Only a handful of Australian actors have been cast in the Bay universe with varying support roles in films he has directed; that short list includes Hugo Weaving (Transformers franchise), Rebel Wilson (Pain & Gain), Rachael Taylor (Transformers) and Isabel Lucas (Transformers: Revenge of
the Fallen).
Stambouliah joins an A-list ensemble cast in Ambulance, headlined by Oscar® nominee Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain), Emmy® winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (The Matrix Resurrections) and Eiza González (Baby Driver).
Based on the original Danish film, Ambulancen, two brothers desperately hijack an ambulance after their bank heist getaway goes spectacularly wrong. Set across the streets of L.A. over one day, this high-speed, breakneck thriller never stops, with a massive, city-wide law enforcement response, hostages, and the most insane escape L.A. has ever seen.
In the vein of great action thrillers of the ‘90s like Speed and Heat, the script has been highly coveted for years until Bay finally got his hands on it and instantly fell in love. Produced by Michael Bay, Oscar® nominee Ian Bryce (Saving Private Ryan), Bradley J. Fischer, (Shutter Island), James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) and William Sherak (Scream).
Filmed in Los Angeles during the Covid-19 pandemic, Ambulance is slated for theatrical release by Universal Pictures.
Stambouliah’s recurring roles on Australian television include Packed to the Rafters, Ben Elton’s Live from Planet Earth and Soul Mates. Since moving to Los Angeles, her star is on the rise having recently appeared in AMC’s Emmy® award-winning series The Walking Dead and SXSW Film Festival selected comedy Golden Arm.
Stambouliah is represented by Innovative Artists and AFA Prime Talent Media.
